I love to crochet. It has become quite an addiction. Yarn calms the nerves, & has no calories.

I made the choice!

I made the choice to try them out. I received my order from
http://www.Vajpads.com and they work great!
I only recommend them for women who live in places that have
great plumbing, water systems! I wear these around the house,
and they work great during an emergency. { for example:
you forgot to gobuy some from the store, or could not afford
to get some from the store, or the store was closed.}
I even feel healthier, if that makes any sense. lol
I gave away two for my friends to try, and plan to purchase a
few more!
Ok, I'm leaving now, I want to enjoy this 4th of July Weekend.

Happy Crafters Month!

In honor of crafters month {and womens history month},

I took some money {5% of my tax return} and bought

some yummy yarn. This should be enough to keep me

busy! I also bought some for a friend. When she gets the

yarn, she said she would blog about it. My pics are not

that good, but here they are! :)

Watching Batman & Robin: {just a thought}

In the age of Global Warming, I thought about what http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_Ivy_%28comics%29
Poison Ivy {as Pamela Lillian Isley} said to Bruce Wayne
in the movie. Now, is she "really" a villain?

In a nutshell, she tells him, we need to stop polluting
Mother Earth. Bruce thinks her point of view is too
extreme, and will cause the deaths of millions of
people. She considers that to be a "small" sacrifice
in order to save the planet.

Children of former Slaves:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emma_Tillman
Emma Fanchon Faust Tillman, an African American, was
born in Gibsonville, North Carolina to former slaves on the
Faust Plantation. Seeking to escape Jim Crow legislation
and the economic havoc that the boll weevil had wreaked
on the region's cotton crops, the Fausts -- who had taken
the name of their former masters -- moved from North Carolina
to Glastonbury in 1900.
She was the first black student to graduate from Glastonbury

High School, just a few miles south of here, and voted in the
first election in which women were allowed to do so.
Discrimination prevented her from finding a job as a secretary,
so she began catering, eventually baking cakes for
Katharine Hepburn's father and Jackie Robinson.

There is no consensus on what allows certain people to live
so long, but there is wide agreement that good genes are the
best predictor of a long life. It probably helped, too, that
Mrs. Tillman neither smoked nor drank.

Tillman is survived by her 80-year- old daughter, Majorie.
But the large extended family is something of a complicated clan:
the funeral program will list seven grandchildren,
36 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren
and 16 great-great-great-grandchildren.

*****************************************************

Elizabeth Jones was born in 1890 in Somerville, Tennessee,
the daughter of freed slaves.
Lizzie married Lewis Bolden circa 1908, and their first child,
a son, Ezell, was born on September 21, 1909. She had seven
children in total, only two of whom were still alive as of her
death in 2006: Queen Esther Rhodes, 89, & Mamie Brittmon, 86.
At the time of her 116th birthday in August 2006, Lizzie had
40 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren,
150 2nd-great-grandchildren, 220 3rd-great grandchildren
and 75 4th-great grandchildren.

TRIVIA:
Elizabeth was born in the year that Idaho and Wyoming became
the 43rd and 44th U.S. states respectively, the year that Dwight D.
Eisenhower was born and Vincent Van Gogh and Sitting Bull died.

Elizabeth was already married with a child in 1910, the year that
Mark Twain died and Halley's Comet came by for the last time prior
to 1986, when she turned 96.

Elizabeth Bolden is not to be confused with acquitted murder
suspect Lizzie Borden. Bolden was almost 2 years old when the
axe murders occurred.

Elizabeth Bolden was featured in a skit on the Late Show with
David Letterman, which mentioned her death, and then
congratulated Regis Philbin as the new oldest living person.

How can you GET IN THE GREEN?

Do you want to make every day an Earth day?
Here's how...
Earth Day, Your Way - AT WORK:
Eliminate unnecessary photocopying and reuse packaging for shipping. Encourage emailing.

When paper is necessary, photocopy on both sides and use old letterhead for scratch paper.
Using a mug saves 500 disposable cups per person from being thrown away each year.
Minimize lighting not necessary for safety and security.
Turn off or set office equipment to power down when not in use.

Turning off one computer and monitor nightly and on weekends
can save up to $80 a year. And setting PCs, monitors and copiers
to power down when not in use may cut energy costs by up to 50%.

Earth Day, Your Way - AT HOME:
Plant a tree that will shade your house as well as reduce the need

for air conditioning.
Participate in your community's recycling program
and recycle all you can.
Combine short car trips, use a bicycle or walk instead.
Improve your home's energy efficiency by adding insulation and caulking, and regularly cleaning heating and air conditioning filters.
Practice water conservation - install a low flow shower head or

make an Earth Day pledge to take shorter showers.
Use compact fluorescent lights to conserve up to 75% of the
energy consumed by incandescent bulbs.
Purchase durable goods and choose products made with recycled materials and with minimal or recyclable packaging.
Reduce the amount of unwanted junk mail - have your name removed from mailing lists.
Choose to reuse or recycle plastic shopping bags
